What is expected of the patient?

During the initial interview you will be asked a number of questions regarding the onset of the symptoms and potential contributing factors. This interview may be quite intense since the therapist needs to gain a detailed insight into the problem. In some cases it may be necessary to follow the problem as far back as your childhood and birth. For the treatment of children it is therefore advisable that the child is accompanied by a parent at the initial and possibly the sixth session. During the physical examination the patient is asked what kind of sensation is experienced in which part of the body.
Your responses will assist the therapist’s decision towards an appropriate treatment technique. It is expected that you actively participate in the treatment by performing home exercises and following management recommendations. All management aspects are previously discussed with you. Therapist and patient are working together to find a way that will reduce or eliminate the your symptoms.
